Through their past support, RBC Insurance has equipped the Medical Clinic which provides health care for our children and youth in care, and has funded the Preparation for Independence and Financial Literacy Program, among others. In this coming year, proceeds from RBC Insurance Golf Classic will fund every single program under the Foundation's "Skills for Success" umbrella, including the Chronic Runners Group, the Financial Literacy Training, Preparation for Independence Classes, the Village, and new support groups for young mothers that we are in the process of developing.
GAP Canada and GAP Foundation have generously been supporting Peel Children's Aid Foundation for the last five years with financial support for the Preparation for Indepence Program as well as their participation in the Holiday Wishes Program. In 2011, GAP Foundation made the decision to direct all of their financial support available for Peel Region to the Preparation for Independence Program. GAP recently began donating all of their unsold children's clothing from their online fulfillment centre to Peel Children's Aid Foundation - that's literally thousands of brand new high quality children's clothing to be made available to our clients, now and in the future!
GE Capital Solutions
In Summer 2007, employees at GE Capital Solutions, already supporters of the Holiday Wishes Program, wanted to take on a volunteer project with Peel Children’s Aid Foundation, focusing on back-to-school supplies. With their financial support, over the years, GE Capital has donated funds to purchase and fill over 500 backpacks with everything kids, ranging from kindergarten to high school, need.
Every year, HBC provides $10,000 in gift cards for the Holiday Wishes Program. These gift cards are used to purchase toys for children in need of financial support during the holidays. They are also used to provide children and teens with winter clothing, bed linens and other essential supplies. HBC's donations total more than $80,000 in total!
The Community Foundation of Mississauga has supported Peel Children's Aid Foundation through the provision of several bursaries for youth in care, through the Kathy A. Drury Bursary Fund, the CIBC Wood Gundy Bursary Fund, and the R. Lessard Family Fund. In June of 2011, the Pendle Fund at the Community Foundation of Mississauga made a groundbreaking donation of $50,000. The donation will support new Infant Safety Programs, providing cribs, car seats, safety gates, and tips on safe bathing and sleeping.
Pallet Valo LLP is a prominent law firm in Mississauga whose sponsorship has provided support to many community organizations. They have been great supporters of Peel Children's Aid Foundation for several years, sponsoring Fore the Kids Golf Classic and other events, in addition to providing key financial support of the Holiday Wishes Program.
RONA Ontario Inc. has provided support to Peel Children's Aid Foundation for the past three years to our Holiday Wishes Program donating a combination of cash, RONA giftcards, and small appliances, which has contributed to our teens living independently in the community. Last year, they were so overwhelmed with the heartfelt stories of our youth that they turned their attention to the bursary program in 2012, providing four RONA bursaries to deserving youth.
CIBC Children's Foundation has been supporting several of our programs for several of years, including Sport for Kids and Wishes for Kids. This past Spring, the CIBC Miracle Fund, through its affiliation with the Children's Aid Foundation, increased its support allowing us to re-open the Sport for Kids and Wishes for Kids Fund after being closed for 12 months due to a decrease in donations.
Citi Financial and the Citi Foundation have been strong supporters of the Preparation for Independence Program since 2008 providing funding for a large portion of the program. Citi also provided its own staff as volunteers to teach the first series of Money Management modules. In addition, Citi employees have supported Holiday Wishes Program in record levels over the past four years.
Canadian Tire Jumpstart has been supporting enrichment programs at Peel Children's Aid since before the Foundation was even established. They were the lead sponsors of 5 Kliks for Kids allowing us to establish the Wishes for Kids Fund. They have provided loyal support to the Sports for Kids Program as well as to the Bursary Fund. Their staff has participated in Foundation Committees and at special events.
